History
In 1999 Macro International designed the predecessor to OnTRAC, which was called the Office of Management and Budget Clearance Submission (OMBCS) system, to support the National Science Foundation's Division of Research, Evaluation and Communication in the Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR). The OMBCS system was originally developed to support the data collection, analysis, storage, and communication activities that were associated with obtaining an OMB clearance. The system was also designed to support the development of generic clearance packages, which NSF EHR uses frequently.
In 2003, after a single demonstration of the OMBCS system, the National Institutes of Health's Project Clearance Branch contracted with Macro International to adapt it for use by that agency.
Macro International then invested our own resources to reengineer the system so that many agencies could use the system for their own clearance needs. The system was continually updated both to meet current client needs and as we discovered ways to improve it.
In 2006 the OMBCS system was renamed OnTRAC for OMB Clearances (service mark pending) and was modified to address new OMB and HHS requirements released in the summer of 2006. We are now running Version 3.0 of the system and continue to update and improve system features and functions as needed.
